Oftentimes, portraiture can seem daunting when setting up for the formal extended project. With only three hours and a pencil and paper, this time at the easel becomes more enjoyable than intimidating. With the right mindset, our practice can become more effective to prepare ourselves for larger drawings and canvases, including the ability to speed up our process. In this three day workshop, students will complete a series of 3-hour portrait sketches with the intention of capturing the specific likeness to each individual model. They will also be assigned to a solid understanding of structure, volume, anatomy, and light flow. Brock will demonstrate his approach and pencil techniques for the students, along with individual critiques and handouts.
