Steven Assael is considered one of the most accomplished contemporary figurative artists today. He works exclusively from life, devoting himself to the realistic rendering of the human figure—a vehicle for expressing various psychological stages and states. His paintings and drawings layer modern techniques, Old Master styles, and traditional tableaux.
