Stephen believes that precise drawing and a strong understanding of prismatic, impressionist color are the cornerstones of contemporary representational painting. Following the influence of modern masters such as Richard Lack and Nelson Shanks, Stephen seeks to capture the beauty and psychology of the human figure through conditions of light.
In March 2025 he won third place in Salmagundi Club's 7th figure drawing competition.
