In this three-day intensive workshop, students will work directly from a live model with the focus of capturing the essence of a sustained pose in graphite, while practicing informational accuracy. The combination of the visual impression and the logical explanation of reality is a delicate balance to harmonize in any drawing, but is crucial to the solidity of fine figurative artwork. Students will be challenged to master the steps to a strong blockin, to abstract and simplify information, understand proportion and anatomy, render the logical flow of light, practice efficiency in application, and maintain a specific likeness to the model. Students will receive written and visual material for reference, demonstrations, and individual critiques throughout this course. Material list will be supplied upon registration and prepayment.
