This workshop will tackle the discipline of enlarging small, on location studies into bigger, finished, studio pieces. Using both plein air studies for value and color reference and photos of the same scene for drawing reference and details, we will cover all aspects of this long standing, professional, studio practice. By covering the most often encountered problems like: drawing errors, design, composition, scaling and transferring to canvas, unity, color and value control, overworking, you will have a good understanding of the practice and get a good start on a studio piece or two. Both plein air studies and supporting photography of your subjects are required. You cannot work exclusively from photos in this workshop. A materials list will be supplied upon sign up.

| Mar 29-31, 2010 | 9:00am-4:00pm | Brian Stewart | 3 days | $300 |

Brian will take the sometimes daunting process of outdoor painting and break it down into small, simple, attainable steps. Each day will build on the previous day’s accomplishments and time honored fundementals will be emphasized. After meeting at The Atelier the first morning, we will paint at different daily locations to keep your eye fresh and challenged. There will be one-on-one help and critiques, demos, discussions and sharing. Brian will not only cover outdoor painting, but all aspects of the Artlife: marketing, equipment, galleries, shows, clubs and the Internet.
