Andy Sjodin, Full Time Instructor, holds a B.A. in Philosophy from St. John's University in Collegeville, MN (2004) and is a graduate of the full-time program at The Atelier Studio Program of Fine Art in Minneapolis, MN (2014). After completing his undergraduate studies, Sjodin traveled for the better part of his 20s. While living in Alaska, Sjodin took a painting course and was encouraged by instructor Asia Freeman to consider art as a more serious pursuit. Taking this advice to heart, Sjodin returned to Minnesota and began his formal training as a painter. After graduating from The Atelier, Sjodin has focused on the development of his work as an artist, constantly pursuing a higher level of craftsmanship while also searching for voice and distinction.
As an artist I am interested in the aesthetic experience as a gateway to honest self-reflection. Honest reflection, I believe, is at the heart of a conscientious, intentional, and fulfilling life.
